Are you interested in working in the board of the National Union of University Students in Finland? Here is how to apply.
The SYL Board for 2026 is elected at the General Assembly 14–15 November 2025. The Board consists of six members and the Chair. The Board is elected by assembly representatives (delegates) selected by each Students’ Union. Each delegate may vote for a member and the Chair.
Each Students’ Union typically selects their candidates for the Board and Chair at a Representative Council meeting. Please contact the representatives of your Student Union if you wish to become a candidate. The Student Unions’ websites are on our website under Members. Working in the Board is full-time and requires living in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. The Board member’s fee is 1,465 € per month. The Chair receives an additional 475 € and the Vice Chair an additional 100 € per month.

September
- Brief introduction of interested applicants in the SYL Autumn Seminar 18–19 September.
October
- Introductions of candidates on SYL Instagram Stories on weekdays. More instructions will be provided later.
November
- The candidates’ written presentations are published on the SYL website on 4 November.
- A candidates’ panel is streamed during the week of the General Assembly. The exact date is announced later and updated on this page.
- Election of the Board at the General Assembly.
- More information on introductions on Instagram and the website as well as on the panel are available at the beginning of October.
