A blog post by Eveliina Heinäluoma, municipal election candidate for SDP, discusses the planning of urban spaces in a student city and the importance of making good use of the students’ skills. According to Heinäluoma, a true student city should actively aim to find new ways of creating a dialogue between all players in the city. According to her, students’ skills should be utilised in varied and unprejudiced ways in various development projects in the city. According to Heinäluoma it is not only the responsibility of the universities to make science visible in the cityscape. By designing urban spaces in a new way we could aim to create physical spaces where students and other inhabitants of the city could meet in a natural way.
