New staff at SYL!

At the end of 2019, two new members of staff joined SYL.

In early November, Siiri Nousiainen began working as our new Communications Adviser.

‘It’s been full speed ahead ever since the beginning. Planning SYL’s communications and implementing the plans is really inspiring, and I’m super excited about this work,’ says Nousiainen.

Nousiainen has worked with advocacy and communications at e.g. Plan International Finland, as trainee at the communications agency Ellun Kanat, and as a board member at SYL.

Touko Niinimäki was appointed Social Policy Adviser at SYL in November.

He took up his position in December. Niinimäki will work with advocacy and expert work in the areas of student health and equality.

‘I’ve had a pleasant start working with interesting themes and getting to know my new colleagues, both staff and the board. I think it’s great that I get to work for the wellbeing of students, and I’m already looking forward to meeting people from the student unions at SYL’s Kick-Off Seminar in February,’ says Niinimäki.

Niinimäki is a Master of Social Service and has previously worked with e.g. themes of equality at LGBTI Rights in Finland – Seta.

Welcome aboard, Siiri and Touko!
