Anselmi Auramo, 27, from the Student Union of LUT University, has been elected President of the National Union of University Students in Finland (SYL). In SYL’s 2025 activities, Auramo emphasises the long-term nature of SYL’s influencing. According to Auramo, SYL must be a solution provider and a forward-looking body in society.

‘We’ve come a long way from being a student council deputy at Mertalan yhtenäiskoulu’, says Auramo, a student of business and social sciences.

The General Assembly of the National Union of University Students in Finland (SYL), which represents the approximately 140,000 students in Finnish universities, is held at Aalto University 15–16 November. The General Assembly will also make decisions on next year’s Plan of Work and SYL’s finances.
