The President for the National Union of University Students in Finland (SYL) for 2020 is 26-year-old Tapio Hautamäki from the Aalto University Student Union.

The recently elected President sees SYL as a force that helps build the entire society: “It’s a great honour to lead the university student movement next year. SYL has an important task of being the voice of the entire young generation in our society. We have an amazing opportunity next year to bring this movement together and to crystallise our vision of a better future for students at the turn of the new decade.”

The General Assembly of the National Union of University Students in Finland, which represents approximately 130,000 higher education students in Finland, will convene on 15–16 November 2019 at the FellmanniCampus in Lahti. The General Assembly not only appoints the next year’s Board, but also decides on the next year’s Plan of Work and SYL’s finances.
